For the first time, the Ministry of National Defense took part in the Thessaloniki International Exhibition, 8-16 September 2018, with its own Pavilion, in which the Hellenic Defense Industry was represented.

This initiative, in a difficult situation for the entire Hellenic Defense Industry, aimed to send a message of optimism and support to the Defense Industry and to emphasize the need for close cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense and the Staff Offices.

The number of visitors to the Ministry of National Defense’s Pavilion surpassed all expectations and the Pavilion was honored with the First Prize of the Exhibition.

HDS, along with other state defense companies, had a prominent place at the Ministry of Defense’s Pavilion, exhibiting the full range of its products in ammunition, weapons and missile systems. The exhibits attracted many visitors, as well as many foreign delegations, that showed interest in relationships and collaborations.

The company was represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directions, Vice Admiral, (ret) HN George Roidis and the C.E.O. Mr. Theofilos Vasileiou.

An important development for the defense industry prospects was the announcements on changes in the legal framework of defense procurement, made by the Minister of National Defense Panos Kammenos and the Director General of the General Directorate for Defense Investments and Armaments (GDDIA), Vice Admiral (HN) ret. Kyriakos Kyriakides. In particular, the change in the procurement law (3978/11), the avoidance of designation of research programs as “procurement” and the 10-year schedule of Arms provisions by the Defense Ministry.
